Cyber techies may be finding it difficult to find a domain name for their sites, but these domain name sellers have made their own lives much easier by selling the domain names on auction portals like ebay which registers 1 such sale in every eight hours.
Domain names have now become an another category of products which consists from the name of celebrities like Pretty Zinta, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan to the name of Games. Such names are in high demand in the maket of domain names being sold and purchased on the web.
Sale of domain names is a thriving business in the US and other western countries. "There has been a significant surge in the sale of domain names on eBay India and at any given point in time, there are over 120 domain names for sale and we even have a dedicated category for listings of domain names," eBay India's Corporate Communications Manager Deepa Thomas told PTI from Mumbai.
Also, another category is of Cyber Squatters, who purchase a domain name like googal similar to well know brand like google and keep it for auction on portals to make handsome protits. This is not really a problem for the original brand name owners since this is done using separate name like .net, .org etc.
