Improve Hard Disk(s) performance in Windows Vista and XP
You can get more out of your Hard Disk (SATA or PATA) by enabling write caching on the disk by default write caching is enable on the windows to improve performance and you have to enable it manually on the hard disk.
Follow these steps in order to enable write caching on Hard Disk.
1) Right click on "Computer"
2) Select Properties
3) Click on the "Device Manager"
4) Double Click on the Disk Drives to expand it
5) Right click on hard disk and select properties
6) Go to Policies tab
7) Check th box against "Enable advanced performance" and click OK
8) Restart computer and Done.
Though this setting further improves disk performance but it also increases the risk of data loss if the disk loses power and it is recommended only for disks with a backup power supply.Labels: Tips and Tricks, Windows, Windows Vista
