Windows Vienna will be the successor of Windows Vista

The next Windows operating system, named Vienna (formerly known as Blackcomb), has confirmed by Microsoft . It will take about two and a half years time to deliver the successor of Vista, and hopefully Microsoft will release it before the end of 2009.

At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Ben Fathi, corporate vice president of development with Microsoft's Windows Core Operating System Division said, "We put Longhorn on the back burner for a while, then when we came back to it, we realized that there were incremental things that we wanted to do, and significant improvements that we wanted to make in Vista that we couldn't deliver in one release." He also said the release will have some cool new features.

After introducing Windows Vista recently Microsoft unveiled a new version of its Windows operating system for mobile device, making it look more like Windows Vista and adding more features previously only available on personal computers called Windows mobile 6 (code name Crossbow)and will be available in the second quarter of 2007, the company introduces the ability to view e-mails in their original HTML internet format with live Web links from advanced mobile phones, generally referred to as smartphone.

Handling and cleaning of laptop

Always try to keep your laptop in a well-ventilated, cool environment and ensure you don't block the fan grills on the sides, back, or bottom of the laptop at any time.

Avoid touching or playing with your LCD screen.

Whatever you do, don't drop your laptop. keep it safe inside a carrying case when moving around or traveling.

If you need to have a drink while working or playing, be careful not to spill it on the keyboard(assuming you're not using spill resistance laptop).

Security wise, make sure you have installed an good antivirus program.

Once in a while, clean the screen and the keyboard with a soft, dry flannel cloth. Don't use any kind of liquid cleanser to clean your laptop.

How to uninstall/remove windows vista from dual-boot windows XP

When Windows Vista is first installed as a dual boot operating system a new boot folder is added to the root directory of your PC. When you boot your PC a menu appears with the following options:

• Earlier versions of Windows
• Windows Vista

If you have decided you no longer want Windows Vista on your PC then there are number of ways to uninstall or remove window vista from your computer.

First Method: To remove or uninstall Windows vista from dual-boot XP

Use these instructions on the basis you are using XP and using a dual boot with Vista on drive D or other.

Place your XP disc in the tray and reboot. Press any key to boot from CD

Once you have reached the setup page, press R to start the recovery console.

You should eventually see a screen listing 1) XP and 2) Vista. It will ask you which operating system you wish to fix/restore. Press 1 for XP and hit enter. It will ask you no admin password, if you have no password, leave it blank and hit enter.

Now at the command prompt type fixboot. It will give you a warning and ask if you are sure. Press Y and hit enter.

Now at the command prompt type fixmbr. Again it will give you a warning and ask if you are sure. Press Y and hit enter.

That is it. Now type exit and your system will reboot with only XP on the boot.

Now when you get back into XP you will see your vista D drive is still there and you can access your files. This is your chance to recover any files you forgot to backup. Simply browse the D drive for the files you want and bring them back to your C partition. When you are confident you no longer want the vista drive, simply right click it and select format. Second Method: To remove or uninstall Windows vista from dual-boot XP

To remove this menu, or more to the point, the boot loader, proceed as follows:

1 Boot the PC to Windows Vista

2 Ensure you are logged onto the Internet and then download the freeware boot loader utility VistaBootPro (www.vistabootpro.org)

3 Once you have downloaded VistaBootPro, install it on your machine

4 During Install VistaBootPro will install an icon on your desktop

5 Locate the VistaBootPro icon and Right Click on it. Then, from the drop down menu, Click on the Run As Administrator option

6 User Account Control (UAC) will pop up and ask for permission to run the program

7 After you have given UAC permission - you must be the administrator or have administrator privileges - VistaBootPro will run.

8 Once VistaBootPro opens, Click on the Bootloader tab

9 In the Bootloader Maintenance section, Click on the Radio button next to the option marked 'Uninstall the Vista Bootloader (Used to restore Legacy OS) option' and then Click the Apply button

10 Finally Reboot your PC

11 On rebooting your machine you will boot directly into Windows XP (or an earlier operating system). No menu will appear.

12 All that is left to do now is to delete the partition which originally contained Windows Vista. (Assuming you wish to remove the Vista partition from your hard drive).

Third Method: To remove or uninstall Windows vista from dual-boot XP

1. Boot your computer in to Windows XP.
2. Ensure you have the Vista DVD image emulated or in the DVD drive.
3. Go to “Start” and “Run”. Type in “e:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force” (without quotes, and replacing e: with the drive letter of your Vista DVD).
4. Restart the computer, and you will notice the boot selection menu is gone.
5. Format the partition/drive where you had Vista installed.
6. Remove two files (Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK) on your XP drive’s root folder (C:), these were backup files of your previous bootloader, now no longer useful.
7. Optional: Restart to ensure it still works.
8. Use your partition software to merge your partitions together.

Hide Images in FireFox

Today more and more people are adopting Firefox as their default browser than Internet Explorer due its tons of features like Pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, page info, security, faster response, cleaner interface and thousands of Firefox add-ons provide the additional functionality to Firefox.

But if you are using limited data download plan or low bandwidth internet connection then it becomes necessary to hide the images on the web page in order to save the data download limit and load the web page faster. It's easy to hide images in Internet Explorer, in case you're still using Internet Explorer. Here are the steps to hide images in Internet Explorer:

->Open Internet Explorer (obviously)
->Under Tool tab, click Internet options, on the menu bar
->Select Advanced tab
->Scroll down to Multimedia section and uncheck the show Pictures option
->and click OK
->Done

If you want to hide images in Firefox, you have to install Image-show_Hide add-ons (size: 13 KB) available at add ons Mozilla site. Once you installed the Firefox add-on it will be added to toolbar (bookmark toolbar see image below) automatically and turn off and on images on all web pages either by clicking the icon or using keyboard shortcut "Shift key + Z" as said by author Dmitriy Altuhov. But this is not true according to me (as voiced by some other commenter s), you have customize toolbar (right click on the toolbar and choose customize to open customize toolbar) and drag the the image-show-hide icon on the bookmark toolbar (see image below).

Here's a list of tips on handling and cleaning your CDs/DVDs.

1 Always handle your CD/DVD by the edges. Avoid touching the shiny side of the disc, as this is the side that the laser reads the information.
2 Cheap plastic sleeves may seem like a good idea at the time, but if exposed to extremes of temperature, the disc and sleeve may adhere to each other.
3 Acrylic jewel cases provide good protection against dust, scratches, light, and rapid changes in humidity.
4 Don't eat, drink, or smoke around your CD/DVD.
5 Never use a ballpoint pen to write on your CD/DVD.
6 Do not try to remove labels from your CD/DVD. The adhesive may pull off the foil on which the data is encoded.
7 To clean your CD/DVD, use a soft clean cloth and wipe from the center hub to the outer edge.
8 Never use solvents to clean your CD/DVD, as they may cause permanent damage to the disc. You may use Kodak Lens cleaner and a lens tissue or soft cloth to clean your discs.

It's not that computers don't have B drives. In initial stage personal computers didn't have hard discs- they were equipped with two floppy drives called drives A and B. Later, a hard disk was introduced and was labelled as C drive. Other drives like CD drive, DVD drive, flash drive and others were labelled D, E etc. If you have a computer having two floppy drives, then they are called A drive and B drive.
